Wayne Davies has worked as a professional economist for approximately ten years (8 ½ years Transport and Main Roads and 1 year Building Queensland). Wayne’s areas of expertise relate to welfare economics, transport economics and cost benefit analysis. Wayne has evaluated a diverse range of road and transport projects in Queensland, which include flood immunity projects, public transport projects and heavy vehicle rest areas. Wayne has led and/or played a vital role in the evaluation of several programs of work, which includes the Warrego Highway Upgrade Program, the Bruce Highway Action Plan, and Northern Australia Roads Program. Wayne has also developed several economic models, which includes a non-infrastructure multi-modal model, rural road cost benefit analysis model, and social impact evaluation model. Wayne has authored numerous peer reviewed papers and presented his findings at conferences and forums such as, the ARRB Conference, Australasian Transport Research Forum and the European Transport Conference. Wayne developed the Social Impact Evaluation approach currently being used by Building Queensland.
Wayne has also peer reviewed the economics and social impacts for major projects such as Public Safety Regional Radio Communications, Beerburrum to Nambour Rail Project, and Cross River Rail Project.
Wayne obtained a Bachelor of Science with Honours in Economics and Management in 2004 from the University of London and a Masters of Applied Economics in 2007 from Griffith University.
